The Louisiana Public Health Institute
A Case Study
The Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) leads and partners with communities to ensure that everyone has fair and just opportunities to be healthy and well. The institute works diligently with diverse populations in several focus areas, including family health, tobacco prevention and control, and behavioral health, among others. LPHI serves the people of Louisiana with a community-centered focus and a commitment to health equity for all.
When LPHI discovered a need to provide consent forms to limited English proficient (LEP) individuals regarding the Greater New Orleans Health Information Exchange (GNOHIE), its staff approached Accessible Translation Solutions to translate consent forms, consent guidance documents, scripts, website content, and other visuals for its programs. ATS assigned teams of translators, editors, and proofreaders specializing in public health to tackle these projects in Arabic, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Our teams were able to turn around the translations for LPHI quickly, allowing the institute to distribute important information about GNOHIE to these diverse populations in their native languages.
